Today couldn’t had gone any better. Bride Michaela came to me after her wedding and said she wished she had got more photo’s of her and her mom at the wedding. We came up with the idea of having a posed photoshoot. Giving her a chance to wear her dress again (which all brides want to do) and get some more one-to-one photo’s of her and her mom.
Since we were practically staging a wedding, we needed some help. We first needed a venue; I immediately called up Camp Lucy . Perfect venue with all the nature and open space we were envisioning. Along with the venue we used Whim Hospitality for their floral. They not only got us an amazing bouquet, we also had an outstanding arch decorated with succulents, cotton, flowers and even some Texas weeds. They were so happy when I gave them a styled board I put together for inspiration and told them to run with the idea; no restrictions. They said it was so nice to just go crazy with creativity with no restrictions from clients, and create something that was their vision. True artists!
So we have the venue, florist, now we need hair and makeup. Not having to look far we used my amazing makeup artist SC Beauty Not only had she worked with bride Michaela before, she had done her mom’s makeup before. Perfect fit for the day!
So since we had all these creative vendors helping, I wanted to take it step further and add my personal gypc flavor. So I called on my friend Desiree Marie Designs to bring a dress that had a more whimsical, hippie/boho feel. She said she had just finished a dress that fit that description perfectly. She had yet to name the dress, but after bride Michaela, wore the dress; we both agreed that the dress had to be called the “Michaela.”
As the day approached, the weather was perfect and all the vendors were happy and full of creativity. We got to shoot at 3 different locations on property at Camp Lucy; and even had time to head down to the Alpaca farm, and shoot with the adorable fur babies.
I always tell my young photographer interns. To stay fresh, to stay inspired, you need to shoot one styled, or creative shoot a month regardless if it’s paid or not. This will help you in your other shoots, to stay inspired, to strive to be better, and to break up the monotony that a job can bring sometimes.
I am so thankful for all the hard work and time that all the vendors gave. I hope I did them proud with the end product. Can’t wait to shoot again with you all!
